Synopsis

At the end of the second World War when Japan was finally defeated, the island of Shikotan came under the jurisdiction of the Soviet Union. Brothers, Junpei and Kanta live alongside Russians who move to the island. The brothers become friends with Tanya, the daughter of a Russian colonel, and soon Junpei and Tanya start to have stronger feelings for each other.

NISHIKUBO Mizuho

Nishikubo was born in 1953. He has participated as animation director in all Oshii Mamoru's works since Patlabor 2: The Movie (1993), Cannes Palme d'Or-nominated Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence (2004) and Golden Lion-nominated The Sky Crawlers (2008). His latest feature film, Musashi: The Dream of the Last Samurai (2009) screened in Sitges, Stockholm Film Festival.
